FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Members of the Trine University women's wrestling team traveled to Warrior Women's Open hosted by Indiana Tech, competing both yesterday and today in the event which featured multiple consolation brackets at each weight class.
Jazlynn Golder competed at 110 for the event and dropped her first two matches during the main event. She secured a victory by fall in her consolation bracket before dropping her final match to finish second in that group.
Layla Hicks also dropped her first two events, coming at 117. She responded with a victory in the consolation bracket before being defeated twice more for a third place finish.
A pair of Thunder competed at 131. Erin Scully started the event with a pair of losses but won two consolation matches to secure a first place spot in that extra bracket. Jenna Thompson dropped two matches as well before exiting the event due to injury.
Madison Small rounded out the delegation, competing at 138. She won her first match of the day with an 8-6 decision, before dropping to a consolation bracket with a pair of losses. She couldn't win another match and finished the day fourth in that bracket.
The team will next compete when they travel to the JCU Women's Open on Sunday, February 1. That tournament is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
