HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Trine University men's track and field team placed sixth of 11 teams at the Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic on Friday afternoon. Trine was led by
Braden Estep who won the 200-meter dash to tally 10 of Trine's 38 points.
The University of Findlay won the meet with 208.5 points, Hillsdale was second with 115 and Ohio Northern was third with 110. Albion and Siena Heights tied for fourth. Olivet, Adrian, Michigan State Running Club, Southwest Michigan CC, and Cleary rounded out the team standings.
Along with his win in the 200, Estep claimed second in the 60-meter dash crossing in 6.90 seconds. The performance equaled his #2 all-time mark from last week. He bettered his #2 mark in the 200 with a time of 22.10 seconds in the 200-meters. He ranks 12
th nationally with the performance.
Kyle Redd added a point with an eighth place finish in the one lap race, finishing in 22.83 seconds.
Rushawn James clocked a nearly three second improvement in the 400-meter dash from last week to clock 51.46 seconds and place third.
Trine placed sixth despite not entering any athletes in the distance events.
Josh Slimak was eighth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.82 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Cole Figg, Estep, Redd, and
Mason Turske placed fourth in 3:34.23.
Preston Nofziger cleared a collegiate-best 4.23 meters/13' 10.5" in the pole vault for sixth place.
Colton Zableckis finished eighth in the shot put with a heave of 14.00 meters/45' 11.25".
Myles Jackson was seventh in the weight throw, tossing 15.01 meters/49' 3".
The Thunder will continue their season next weekend at the Wittenberg Steemer Showcase.
