NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Trine University women's wrestling team spent this past weekend at the 2026 Spartan Mat Classic, with Madison Small leading the way with a third-place finish.
Small posted her result at 138. The junior went 3-1 during the pool play portion of the event, with each of her wins coming by fall, and her lone loss coming in a 9-2 decision. The results sent her to the third-place match where she scored a 10-0 tech fall victory.
Laylah Hicks was the next best finisher for the team, taking fifth at 117. She won one match during pool play, taking that victory by fall, before moving into a consolation bracket. She posted two more wins by fall to secure the fifth-place finish.
Jazlynn Golder placed sixth at 110. She dropped her three pool play contests but won in the consolation bracket with a tech fall victory to capture sixth.
Erin Scully and Angel Kreider each finished seventh in their brackets, Scully at 131 and Kreider at 124. Jenna Thompson finished ninth at 131.
The Thunder will next take to the mats when they travel to the Indiana Tech Open this upcoming weekend. It begins on Friday, January 23 at 2 p.m. and will run through Saturday.
