GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Trine University men's wrestling team picked up their second dual victory of the season, taking down a nationally recognized squad from Cornerstone (Mich.) University by the score of 23-18.

The Eagles are members of the NAIA where they are receiving votes in the latest national rankings.

The Thunder's Kaden Golder opened the match with bonus points. He took the 125 match with a fall just over a minute into the match. After dropping the second match of the day, Tommy Miller won the 141 match with a 7-5 decision making the dual score 9-4.

Cornerstone took a lead of their own in the next two matches, recording a fall and a decision for the 13-9 lead. They recorded their final win of the night at 174 creating a lead of 18-12 at the time.

Lakin Webb won the 165 match 3-1 for the 12th point of the dual. Trine won the final three matches to secure the match. Gavin Malone at 184 and Davin George at 285, each recorded decisions while Julante Hinton took the 197 match with a tech fall and five dual points. After the strong second half the Thunder set atop the score 23-18.

The Thunder improve to 2-5 following the win. They will open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play on Thursday, January 15, when they will host The University of Olivet. The first match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
