GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Trine placed two golfers in the top three at this afternoon's MIAA Jamboree #1 at Thornapple Point GC. Rylee Smith and Natalie Kulka finished second and third to lead the Trine University women's golf team to a second place team finish. Smith shot 75 and Kulka 76 to help Trine to a team score of 316 strokes.
 
Kalamazoo took the win with 315 strokes, Hope followed closely with 319 strokes for third. Saint Mary's and Calvin rounded out the top five.
 
Smith opened her round with four consecutive pars on holes seven through ten. She then made birdies on holes thirteen and one. Her day ended one shot behind Jacey Merkle of Kalamazoo who took medalist honors.
 
Kulka finished third with a 76. She made 11 pars and a pair of birdies on four and eight. She played the front nine two under par to secure her round.
 
Grace Thiele placed twelfth with a round of 80, she also made birdie on hole eight. Cassidy Hawken rounded out the Thunder's round with an 85.
 
Trine's next round will be next Tuesday at the Medalist Golf Club for Jamboree #2 hosted by The University of Olivet.
