ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's golf team kicked off the 2025-26 athletics season with a win at their own Kickoff Classic. The Thunder took the win in dramatic fashion, winning by one stroke over Kalamazoo and Indiana East. Sophomore Rylee Smith claimed medalist honors with a 74.
 
As a team, Trine tallied 325 strokes on the 5,963 yard par-72 course. KZoo and IU East were second with 326. Albion claimed the next two spots with 347 and 355 strokes to round out the top 5.
 
Smith notched four birdies on the day, the first on the 360-yard par-4 third, the next came on the 326-yard par-4 eighth following a tough seventh hole. She mastered the tenth hole, a 485-yard par-5. Her last birdie came on sixteen, a 326-yard par-4. She added nine pars to claim medalist honors.
 
Natalie Kulka placed fourth individually with an 81. She made 10 pars on the day, including four in a row from hole seven to ten.
 
Kayleigh Agugliaro was 13^th with an 84. She made eight pars on the day but the highlight was hole five. She bettered the 462-yard par-5 for her lone birdie of the day.
 
Brooke Anderson rounded out the Thunder quartet with a 17^th place finish, shooting an 86. She posted three birdies on the back nine, coming on holes eleven, fifteen and eighteen. Hole eleven was a par three, fifteen a par four and eighteen a par five.
 
Trine heads to Highland Lake Golf Course on Friday for the IU East Invitational.
