FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Trine University men's soccer team has been predicted to finish third in the upcoming 2025 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) season by the association's coaches, the MIAA released today.

The association's coaches voted for the poll with low point total receiving the top spot and coaches unable to vote for themselves. Calvin University once again took the top spot in the poll, earning nine points with six of the first-place votes. Hope College came in second with 12 points and the other two first-place votes. The Thunder took third with 19 points.

Trine finished 5-0-2 in the MIAA season during the 2024 campaign, earning a share of the regular season title with the Flying Dutch. The final game of the regular season determined the championship with the top two teams meeting inside of Zollner Stadium. Trine battled Hope to a 0-0 draw that secured the share of the program's first ever MIAA title.

The Thunder went on to advance to the MIAA Championship contest where they fell to the Knights, 2-1. All told the team finished the season 7-7-3.

Trine returns three student-athletes to the roster who were selected to an All-MIAA team. Jarick Aguilar earned his second selection, this time as a member of the first team. Also set to return are Braden Estep and Gavin Hardy who were both named to the second team.

The team is under the new leadership of head coach Tim McClements who takes over for last year's interim Mike Avery. McClements brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the role, including a seven-year stint as the head coach at Southern Methodist University.

The Thunder open the season this Friday, August 29 when they travel to face the University of Mount Union. That game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
