Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Borak's Pair Leads Thunder to 3-3 Draw

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's soccer team put forth a dominating second half performance, nearly overcoming being shorthanded, but ultimately finished the contest in a 3-3 draw with visiting Bluffton University. Ben Borak led the team with a pair of goals in the contest.

The Beavers held an edge in the momentum during the first half. They eventually broke through the defense in the 30th minute of play to go up 1-0 in the contest. That lead looked daunting after a Gavin Hardy was given a second yellow in the late stages of the half, putting the team down a man for the rest of the contest.

Despite the disadvantage, it was the Thunder who seized the momentum to start the second. Colin Clark buried a shot into the top right corner of the net after receiving a fantastic cross from Nikola Bastaic. The 47th minute goal knotted the contest at one.

In the 72nd minute, the team drew a penalty kick off a foul inside of the box. Borak took the attempt and confused the opposing keeper with a shot to the left side of the goal.

Just 90 seconds later the team came up with another goal building their lead to 3-1. Borak scored again, this time off of a pass from the other side of the penalty area by Britton Sala.

The team stalled out from there, but the Beavers struck back in the final ten minutes. They scored back-to-back goals in the final ten minutes, taking advantage of the  depleted defense of Trine. The 3-3 score would go final eight minutes later.

The Thunder improve to 0-4-1 following the draw. They will next take the pitch on Saturday, September 13 when they host nationally ranked Ohio Northern University. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on Weaver Field.
