FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced their first and second team honorees for this year's Outdoor MIAA Championships. Individuals and relay teams that won their respective events earned first team honors while those finishing second were named to the second team.
Leading the way for Trine was
Ethan Spahr, he amassed 53 points across six events including four event wins. Spahr earned first team honors in the decathlon, javelin throw, long jump, and pole vault. He set personal bests in the decathlon, pole vault, and javelin. His 6,639 points rank him seventh nationally in the decathlon.
He cleared 4.60 meters/15' 1" in the pole vault to earn his second MIAA Championship in the event. In the javelin he tossed 53.04 meters/174' for the win. He added a final victory in the long jump for his third MIAA Championship in the event. Spahr earned second team honors with a second place finish in the high jump, tying his personal best of 1.98 meters.
Zion Jackson took home two first team and three second team honors and tallied 42.5 points. He was second in the long jump and the 100- and 200-meter dashes. His time of 21.39 seconds smashed the previous program record of 21.59, he ranks 31
st in Division III with that time.
Jackson comfortably took the win in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.59 seconds, he ranks sixth in the nation in the event. Jackson's other first team honor came on the 4x100-meter relay team. He,
Max Harris, Jayjouir Roberts, and
Braden Estep teamed up to take down the MIAA record in the event. The quartet clocked 41.17 seconds and rank 11
th in Division III in the event.
Harris, Roberts, and Estep each earned first team honors for their parts on the relay.
Max Van Huis earned two second team honors with runner up finishes in the 1500- and 10,000-meter runs.
Dillon Dennison took second in the hammer throw with a personal best of 53.59 meters/175' 10" for second team honors.
