ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University Assistant Vice President for Athletics Matt Land has announced Professional Women's Bowling Association Rookie of the Year, Hope Gramly as the new head coach of the Trine University Bowling program. She will take the reigns of both the men's and women's teams, the former coming off their second top eight finish at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Nationals in three years.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Hope to the Trine Athletics family," said Land, "I am confident that her amazing playing experience both on the professional and collegiate level will help our program continue to compete for national championships and to take us to the next level."
"I'm thrilled to be at Trine! I'd like to thank Matt Land and our entire athletic department for this opportunity," said Gramly, "I'm excited to be a part in the development of young athletes and in continuing the Thunder's winning tradition."
Gramly currently competes in the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) and was named PWBA Rookie of the Year in 2023. So far, her professional career includes five top-five finishes over the course of 21 events. She placed fifth in the 2023 Pepsi Classic and 2023 USBC Queens Classic, was fourth in the 2023 BowlTV Classic and Spokane Open, and finished runner-up at the 2024 USBC Queens Classic.
In addition, the Quincy, Michigan native has twice been selected to compete as a part of Team USA. She also serves as a private coach at Midway Lanes in Coldwater, Mich.
Gramly attended McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill. and was a standout bowler for the NCAA Division II program. The 2023 graduate was named National Player of the Year three times and was named Most Valuable Player at the 2022 NCAA Tournament and the 2023 USBC Tournament, with McKendree winning both of national titles.
Throughout her career she was named first team All-American four times and second team twice. She was the NCAA Division III Freshman of the Year in 2019.
