LAS VEGAS – The Trine University Men's Bowling team finished tied for fifth at the ITC National Championships on Friday, April 18
th. Trine finished one win shy of the final four in the double elimination tournament.
The Thunder qualified 12
th of 16 teams on Thursday to set the stage for Friday's double elimination tournament. Trine began on Friday facing off with fifth seeded Milligan, the Buffaloes took the match four games to two. Each match was a best of seven series. Trine then matched up with Oklahoma Christian in the first round of the consolation bracket and won 4-1. The Thunder advanced to play top seed Savannah College of Art and Design, the teams tied one game but the Thunder never lost and took the match 4.5-0.5.
Trine then found themselves in the final eight against ninth seeded St. Ambrose, the Thunder rolled by the Fighting Bees four games to one and set up the rematch with the Buffaloes. Trine battled but ultimately fell 4-3 in the 10
th frame of game seven. Trine earned the highest finish ever at the national championships. In 2023, the Thunder place eighth.
