Box Score 1 OLIVET, Mich. – The Trine University Baseball team wrapped up its season on Sunday afternoon at The University of Olivet. The first game brought a win for the Thunder behind a pair of home runs. The second game brought rain and ultimately ended as a no-contest. Trine wraps up its season 11-27 (5-15 MIAA) and Olivet finishes 9-29 (4-16 MIAA).

Will Gimbel got the start and the win allowing just one earned run and striking out ten. Owen Mitchell finished the game in relief and earned a save after allowing two walks and no hits over the final two innings. The Trine offense backed up the solid outings on the mound with eight hits and four runs. All four came on home runs. Joel Walton concluded his Thunder Baseball career with a seven-game hitting streak and William Taczak was an impressive 14-25 (.560) over the final eight games of the season.

In the sixth inning, trailing 1-0, Walton and Taczak found themselves on base with Nathan Gilmet at the plate. Gilmet smacked a home run over the left field fence to put the Thunder in the lead for good. Gimbel protected the lead in the bottom frame of the inning, recording all three outs by strikeout. The Thunder defense turned a double play in the bottom of the eighth as Olivet threatened the lead with runners on first and second. Cole Temple fielded a ground ball and tagged third and beat the runner to first with the throw. Temple rode the momentum to the batter's box where he led off the ninth inning with a left field bomb to pad the lead.

The second game was declared a no-contest due to rain. This concludes the season for both teams.
