BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Trine University men's golf team gained one spot in the standings to earn a 22
nd place finish at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.
The second round of the event was hosted by the Weibring Golf Club where the Thunder posted a day two total of 302 shots, 18 over par, giving them a tournament total of 612. The host's B-team posted the low score at the event with 575 strokes with Aurora University (582) and Saint John's (Minn.) University (583) rounding out the podium.
Jake Bilby led the way for Trine on the second day, posting a two over round of 73. After bogeying two of his first three holes of the day, the freshman parred the rest of the day. He finished the event 51
st as an individual.
Carter Schnipke was the two-day leader for the Thunder finishing the tournament five over after posting a second day score of 75. The front nine was kind to the senior who was one under for that half of the round. He finished the event in 28
th individually.
For the second day,
Trevor Vietti finished with a six over score, completing the tournament at 12 over and in 109
th place as an individual.
Jack Besner also finished today with a six over score of 77. He finished the event 17 over in 161
st place. Rounding out the card for the Thunder was
Garrett James who posted a 78 today and finished the event 16 over.
Asher Caldwell and
Colin Crumrine both competed as individuals for Trine. Caldwell finished the event 17 over while Crumrine was 24 over.
The team will next take to the links at home when they host the A.C. Eddy Spring Classic on Tuesday, April 15. The shotgun start is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Zollner Golf Course.
