4x100 Record Leads Men's Track and Field at Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich. – The 4x100-meter relay team of Max Harris, Jayjouir Roberts, Zion Jackson, and Braden Estep broke the program record on Friday afternoon to lead the Trine University men's track and field teams in split squad action this week. The quarter passed the baton around the track in 41.30 seconds, shaving .14 off the old record and taking the win.
 
Estep, Roberts, and Harris were joined by Corey Washington as they finished 1-6-7-8 in the 100 meter dash. Estep nearly added a second record, taking the win in 10.66, just .04 off the program mark. He was again .04 off of a second record in the 200-meter dash finishing second in 21.63 seconds. Aaron Pike, Cameron Elias, Mason Turske and Evan Straske finished 5-6-7-8 with Pike, Elias, and Straske setting new personal bests.
 
Brady Snyder and Pike finished 5-7 in the 400-meter dash in 51.52 and 52.13 seconds.  Ryan Dehaan took seventh in the 800-meter run and Zion Jackson took the win in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.23 seconds. Hunter Eifert was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.86. Blake Lude and Matthew Schaefer were fourth in the pole vault.
 
Colton Zableckis took sixth in the discus with a toss of 139' 11". Trace Stookey, Hayden Patton, and AJ Henderson took fourth, sixth, and eighth in the hammer throw with tosses of 156' 8", 147' 9", and 144' 9". Colton Wampler and Collin Brady finished fifth and eighth in the javelin with throws of 151' 11" and 141' 2".
 
A contingent of distance runners traveled to Grand Valley State, Tyler Hartleroad and Philip Nemecek had strong showings in the 800-meter run finishing in 1:56.98 and 1:57.72. Blake Overmyer and Joseph Packard placed fifth and sixth in the 5000-meter run in times of 14:46.57 and 14:48.05. Max Van Huis and Eli Shoup were third and fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 9:28.42 and 9:43.13.
 
Trine heads to Hillsdale next week for a final tune-up before the MIAA Championships on May 1st and 2nd.
