ANGOLA, Ind. –
Rylee Smith and
Grace Dubec both placed in the top five at Friday's Trine Spring Classic as the Trine University women's golf team claimed a second place finish. Saint Mary's claimed the team title with 327 strokes, Trine was close behind with 330.
Smith placed second, one shot behind medalist Hailey Stegeman of Indiana-Kokomo, with a 77. Dubec tied for fifth with an 81.
Brooke Anderson tied for seventh with an 82.
Grace Thiele completed the Trine "A" squad in 24
th place, with 90 strokes.
Calvin took third with 339 strokes, followed by Indiana-Kokomo and Albion to round out the top five.
Trine travels to Battle Creek, Mich. on Monday and Tuesday for the MIAA Spring Final at Binder Park Golf Course. The winner of the team title will earn the MIAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in May.
