Men's Track and Field Wins Indiana DIII Championships

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Trine University Men's Track and Field was victorious at this afternoon's Indiana DIII Championships. Trine won five events on the day and tallied 170 team points, topping hosts DePauw by 7. The top eight finishers earned points toward the team championship.
 
Zion Jackson was named Track MVP of the meet, scoring 28.5 points. Jackson won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.61 seconds, was second in the 200-meter dash in 21.87 seconds and took silver in the triple jump with a leap of 12.88 meters/42' 3.25". He was also on the winning 4x100-meter relay team that crossed in 41.49 just .05 off the school record. Joining Jackson on the relay were Braden Estep, who won the 100 meter dash in 10.71 seconds and placed eighth in the 200-meter dash. Max Harris who took eighth in the 100-meter dash and Jayjour Roberts.
 
Mason Turske finished seventh in the 200-meter dash in 22.45 seconds.
 
Blane Johnson took seventh in the 400-meter dash finishing in 51.97 seconds.
 
In the 400-meter hurdles Tyler Torbeson earned an eighth place finish, crossing in 1:02.41.
 
Philip Nemecek won the 800-meter run in 1:56.28 and Sam Sering took seventh in 2:00.74.
 
Tyler Hartleroad was second in the 1500-meter run and Matt Rankin finished seventh. Hartleroad finished in 4:02.61 and Rankin in 4:08.65.
 
Eli Shoup grabbed a fourth place in the 3000-meter steeplechase, he finished in 9:47.57.
 
Blake Overmyer, Nicholas Spielman, and Clay Batio were third, sixth, and seventh in the 5000-meter run.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Nemecek, Spahr, Morgan Johnson, and Blane Johnson took third in 3:24.17.
 
Trine scored three in the discus and four in the hammer throw. Collin Brady, Trace Stookey, and Colton Zableckis went 4-6-8 in the discus while Hayden Patton, Stookey, AJ Henderson, and Zableckis went 2-3-7-8 in the hammer. Colton Wampler and Brady took fourth and sixth in the javelin. Zableckis and Stookey finished third and fifth in the shot put.
 
Hunter Eifert was fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.73 meters/5' 8". Isiah Pryor took eighth in long jump, leaping 5.96 meters/19' 6.75".
 
The pole vault trio of Ethan Spahr, Morgan Johnson, and Blake Lude nearly swept the podium finishing 1-2-4. Spahr won with a 4.35 meter/14' 3.25" clearance, Johnson was second, going over 4.20 meters/13' 9.25" and Lude took fourth with a jump of 3.90 meters/12' 9.5".
