EXCELSIOR, Minn. – The Trine University men's hockey team ends the 2024-25 season ranked seventh in the nation according to the postseason USCHO.com Coaches Poll.

This is the seventh straight edition of the poll with the Thunder holding the seventh spot. This week they matched their total from ahead of the NCAA Division III Men's Hockey Championship tournament with 177 points. They come in 31 points behind fellow Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) members Aurora University and St. Norbert College who tied for fifth. Adrian College rounded out the conference's delegation coming in at ten.

The Thunder made their first appearance in the NCAA tournament this season and started play with a 4-1 victory over Oswego State University of New York, who ends the season 12th in the poll. Trine then traveled to New York to face Hobert College and took the two-time defending champions to overtime before falling 3-2. The Statesmen went on to win their third straight national title and are unanimous number one in the poll.

Trine was ranked in the national poll every week except for the preseason. They have spent the last 14 weeks ranked inside of the top ten. They reached as new program high of fourth in the poll on January 27, but seven was their lucky number, coming in at that rank in nine of the 17 polls.

The season goes in the books as the best in program history. In addition to the postseason success, the Thunder finished with a 21-7-2 record, the most wins and fewest losses in program history.
