CEDARVILLE, Ohio –
Max Van Huis shattered his fourth school record of the season to lead the Trine University Track and Field team in a spilt squad weekend. A group of distance runners competed at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis while the rest of the squad competed at the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Open.
Van Huis demolished the previous record by over 14 seconds in the 5000-meter run, crossing in 14:25.66 to take eighth place in his heat of the race.
Tanner McMain won his heat of the 5000 in 15:31.42.
Joseph Packard set a personal best of 30:58.83 in the 10,000-meter run.
In Ohio,
Ethan Spahr took fifth in the javelin throw with a personal best of 52.82/173' 3" meters and was third in the long jump with a leap of 6.98 meters/22' 10.75".
In the hammer throw
Dillon Dennison was sixth with a heave of 50.98 meters/167' 3" and
Hayden Patton took ninth with a toss of 48.62 meters/159' 6". Dennison's toss was a personal best.
Zion Jackson was fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.96 meters/22' 10" and took seventh in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 15.05 seconds.
Eli Shoup took sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:06.13,
Matt Hoop took ninth in 10:31.90, and
Lucas Tutrow was 12
th in 10:39.34.
The 4x100-meter relay team of
Jackson Keiser,
Mason Turske,
Evan Straske, and
Corey Washington took sixth place with a time of 43.07.
Braden Estep took 10
th in the 100-meter dash in 10.73 seconds.
Trine will head to the Manchester Spartan Invitational next weekend.
