Thunder Finish Regular Season with Season High Score

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling posted a season high team score as they finished the regular season with a 233.915-190 victory over Calvin University.

The Thunder had a strong showing from the start, finishing the Compulsory Event with a ten-point lead on a score of 33.55. They had nines in both the pyramid heat (9.55) and toss heat (9.65). They had a solid 8.20 in the acro heat and a 6.15 in the tumbling.

The Acro Event saw the team post a 26.80 score, gaining three more on the Knights. Their best scores came in the first heat with a 9.20 and the third heat with a 9.10.

The team finished the first half with another three-point victory, this time taking the Pyramid Event 27.90 to 24.80. They improved their score in each heat, starting with an 8.60 during the inversion heat, adding a 9.45 in the synchronized heat and finishing with a 9.85 in the open heat.

The score was 88.25 to 71.75 at half.

The Toss Event was one of the closest of the night, but still ended in favor of Trine by the score of 26.00 to 23.85. The best score came in the first heat where the team posted 9.05.

Tumbling was another nearly three-point win with the Thunder scoring 44.025 to the Knight's 41.175. The best scores came in the aerial pass with an 8.425 and in the open pass with an 8.450.

Trine secured the comfortable win with a 75.64 showing in the Team Event.

The team finishes the regular season 5-3. The team will compete in postseason play at the NCATA Division III National Tournament hosted by Buffalo State University. The three day event begins on Thursday, April 10 and will conclude on Saturday, April 12.
