ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team cruised to a pair of victories during their tri-match hosted by Adrian College. The Thunder ended the meet with 226.215 points with the hosts posting 181.280 and Calvin University coming in with 179.120.
Trine took the lead from the start, posting the high score during the Compulsory Events with a 31.75. They went over eight in each of the first three heats including a 9.20 during the pyramid heat, an 8.45 in the acro heat and an 8.80 in the toss heat.
It was closer, but the Thunder took the Acro Event as well with a score of 24.90. The score was bolstered by a 9.20 in the first heat. They also came in with a solid 8.50 in the third heat.
In what has been the strongest event though the season for the Thunder, a slipup in the first heat kept it closer than it should have been, but the team won the Pyramid Heat with a score of 27.60. The team had a 9.50 in the second heat and a 9.40 in the third heat. The 8.70 in the first heat is below their average for the season but still a strong score.
Out of halftime Trine posted a 24.80 in the Toss Event to win by three points over both other competitors. Their best total came in the first heat with an 8.85 score.
 A solid showing in the Tumbling Event continued to grow the lead for the team. Their best scores came in the aerial pass with an 8.35 and in the open pass with an 8.225.
They finished off the victory with a 73.94 in the Team Event, bumping the deficit over the other teams by 20 more points.
The Thunder improve to 4-3, moving above five hundred for the first time this season. They will close out the regular season when they travel to face the Knights again on Saturday, March 29. That contest is set to start at 3 p.m.
