ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University Men's Track and Field team claimed their sixth consecutive indoor MIAA Championship and 10
th total consecutive title. Three Thunder were named MIAA Champion and Trine posted 34 all-conference finishes. Trine totaled 181 points, 47 more than second place Calvin.
Max Van Huis swept the mile and 3000-meter races,
Zion Jackson took home the 60-meter hurdles crown and
Ethan Spahr tallied 36 points with two wins in the long jump and pole vault and runner up finishes in high jump and triple jump.
Van Huis took the mile in 4:15.20 and the 3000 in 8:37.98, the mile marked a new personal best as he went 2 for 2 on the day on MIAA Championships.
Jackson won the 60 hurdles in 8.37 seconds, took second in the long jump with a 6.96 meter/22' 10" jump, was third in the triple jump with a personal best 13.39 meter/ 43' 11.25" jump, and added a sixth place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.87 seconds. He totaled 27 points on the day.
Spahr won the long jump with a personal best mark of 7.01 meters/ 23', then took second in high jump with a leap of 1.96 meters/6' 5" before adding another runner-up mark in triple jump of 13.41 meters/44' and finally capped his day off with a win in the pole vault, clearing 4.46 meters/ 14' 7.5". He racked up 36 points on the day.
Trine took four places in the top 8 of the 60-meter dash.
Braden Estep was third (6.96),
Jayjouir Roberts was fifth (7.01),
Max Harris was sixth (7.04), and
Corey Washington was eighth (7.14). Estep took fourth in the 200-meter dash in 22.45 seconds.
Tyler Hartleroad led three Thunder runners in the 800-meter run, he placed third with
Philip Nemecek, and
Zack Gaynor in fifth and eighth. Hartleroad crossed in 1:57.18, Nemecek in 1:59.15, and Gaynor in 2:00.33.
Joseph Packard,
Ryan Hoopingarner, and
Blake Overmyer finished 2-4-6 in the 5000-meter run. Packard crossed first in 15:15.05, Hoopingarner was close behind in 15:21.00, and Overmyer crossed in 15:25.82.
Kanaan Jewett was third in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.57 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Blane Johnson,
Brady Snyder, Nemecek, and Hartleroad took fifth place in 3:31.60.
The Distance Medley Relay team of
Matt Hoop, Johnson,
Drew Merritt, and
Clay Batio took second in 10:51.26.
Hunter Eifert was eighth in the high jump, clearing 1.84 meters/6' .5".
Morgan Johnson and
Blake Lude took fourth and sixth in the pole vault. Johnson cleared 4.26 meters/13' 11.25" and Lude cleared 3.91 meters/12' 10". Johnson was seventh in the long jump with a jump of 6.43 meters/21' 1.25".
Colton Zableckis and
Trace Stookey were fourth and sixth in the shot put. Zableckis tossed the shot 14.06 meters/46' 1.5" and Stookey threw 13.54 meters/44' 5.25".
Myles Jackson,
Dillon Dennison,
AJ Henderson, and
Hayden Patton took third, fourth, sixth, and eighth in the weight throw.
The Thunder will head to Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg Final Qualifier next weekend for one last chance at qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships.
