TIFFIN, Ohio – The Trine University women's wrestling team opened their season at the 2025 Tiffin Open. Six grapplers took to the mats for the team.

Freshman Jazlynn Golder and junior Madison Small were the winners for the Thunder.

Golder dropped her first match of the day in the 117 bracket, but won in the opening match of the consolation bracket with a quick pin. She dropped out of the tournament in the next round.

Small also fell in the opening round, competing at 138, before winning in the consolation bracket. She pinned her opponent at the 1:14 mark of her first consolation contest. She came up just short in her second, losing with a 4-1 decision to exit the tournament.

Laylah Hicks, Angel Kreider, Jenna Thompson and Kristine Piatt-Bakos all also competed for the Thunder at the event.

Trine will return to the mats next on Sunday, November 9 when they travel to the Adrian Invite. The tournament is set to start at 10 a.m.
