FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named
Garrett James its Men's Golfer of the Week. James earned medalist honors at MIAA Jamboree #3 with his school record round of 65. This marks the second time James has been the MIAA Golfer of the Week.
James tied Joel Bickel and Cameron Ruge atop the Thunder record book for an 18 hole round. Bickel initially set the record in 2005 and Ruge tied him in 2018. He made seven birdies in his round, including five on the back nine. His lone blemish was a bogey on hole one which he immediately neutralized with a birdie on hole two. His 65 propelled the Thunder to the event win and the lead in the MIAA Standings. James is now the top individual in the conference.
The Thunder are competing in day one of the two day, 54-hole Lewis Flyers Fall Classic today at Cog Hill GC.
