HILLSDALE, Mich. –
Ethan Spahr and
Zion Jackson posted event wins to lead the Trine University Men's Track and Field team to a fourth place finish among some tough NCAA Division II competition. Spahr took the win in the long jump and Jackson crossed first in the 60-meter hurdles. Trine posted 10 top five finishes on the day.
Spahr won the long jump with a leap of 6.88 meters/22' 7", Jackson was sixth at 6.44 meters/ 21' 1.5".
Jackson continued his impressive outing with a third place showing in the triple jump. Hop, skip, and jumping 13.25 meters/43' 5.75".
Jackson capped off his day with a win in the 60-meter hurdles. He broke the tape in 8.38 seconds, teammate
Kanaan Jewett was in tow placing third in 8.79 seconds.
Braden Estep clocked 6.96 seconds in the 60-meter dash to place third. Estep added a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 22.74 seconds.
Trine placed three in the top five of the 3,000-meter race.
Lucas Tutrow was 2
nd in 9:19.27,
Eli Shoup was 3
rd in 9:23.45 and
Matt Hoop rounded out the top five in 9:36.13.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Brady Snyder, Blane Johnson,
Jack Melvin, and
Aaron Pike crossed third in 3:37.21.
