OLIVET, Mich. – The Trine University men's wrestling team dropped their opening dual of the conference season, falling to their hosts from The University of Olivet by the score of 43-0.

Four matches in the contest were decided by decision, despite all going in favor of the Comets. In the first match of the day Karrington Cooper fell by the score of 9-6. Philip Burney was moments away from a victory at 165, but a late takedown and near-fall cemented the 12-9 victory for the home team. The margin of defeat was also three for Gavin Malone at 184 with a score of 8-5.

Kyler Bills finished with a 4-2 loss at 285, the closest match of the day.

The team drops to 6-3 overall and 0-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play following the loss. The Thunder are set to host their first home dual of the season when they next take the mats on Thursday, January 23. Adrian College will come to town for a 7 p.m. contest.
