KANSASVILLE, Wis. – The Trine University women's golf team finished day one of the Midwest Region Classic hosted by Benedictine University at Brighton Dale Links in a tie for third place with a team score of 316 strokes.
Freshman
Rylee Smith led the way for the Thunder with a five over par score of 77. She recorded a pair of birdies in the first nine holes before playing a mostly clean back nine that featured seven pars. She finishes the day 11
th as an individual.
Bailey Bravata finished second on the team with a plus seven day of 79 strokes. She had a more volatile round that featured a team high three birdies, but also the second most bogies. Bravata was 19
th as an individual.
Rounding out the scorecard were
Grace Dubec and
Grace Thiele, both coming in with 80 strokes and tied for 29
th as individuals. Dubec had the final birdie of the day for Trine on her way to the result, while Thiele had 12 pars to secure hers.
Kayleigh Agugliaro was the fifth player for the team and finished with 83 strokes.
Brooke Anderson competed as an individual and finished with 90 strokes.
The Thunder will look to find further success in round two of the event tomorrow, Saturday, September 21. They are scheduled to tee off at 9:30 a.m. CT.
