ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team won their dual against Adrian College by the score of 7-2, their eighth straight victory.

The Thunder started strong, winning all three doubles matches. The top pairing of Sammy Yin and Andrew Spirrison were in a tight match to start but pulled away late to secure the 8-4 victory. Drew Dixon and Cole Goodman also secured an 8-4 win in the No. 2 match while Nicholas Jen and Caleb Morris took the No. 3 match 8-2.

Trine secured the dual by taking four of six singles matches. The most exciting match of the day came at No. 4 where Elijah Schilthuis had a marathon contest that he ultimately lost with scores of 7-5, 6-7 (8-10), 10-4. Yin also needed a super tiebreaker but picked up the point for the team with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-4 victory in the No. 1 match.

Spirrison had the most convincing of the singles wins, taking the No. 3 match 6-2, 6-0. Goodman followed close behind with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 2 match and Dixon finished off the day in the No. 6 match with a 6-3, 6-3 win.

The Thunder improve to 12-3 overall while remaining undefeated with four wins in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. They will next take the courts on Saturday, April 13 when they travel to face Alma College for an 11 a.m. match.
