UPLAND, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team suffered their first loss of the season after dropping their dual to Taylor University by the score of 5-2.
The Thunder took just one of the doubles matches to hand the first team point of the match to the Trojans. The victory came in the No. 3 match where Caleb McIntyre and Leyton Byler won by the score of 6-2.
Both of the points for Trine came in the singles portion of the contest. Brodie Hershberger secured the first win with a 6-4, 6-2 result in the No. 4 match. The final match of the day was contested by Emmett Wirth who came up with a win in a 6-4, 7-6 (8-6), 10-4 result.
The Thunder fall to 3-1 overall after the loss. They will continue their season when they take on Cedarville University in a match on Saturday, September 19. The 2 p.m. contest is set to be hosted by Taylor in Upland, Ind.
