ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team secured their fourth win of the season by defeating visiting Indiana University East with a score of 6-1.
The Thunder opened the day with the first point by winning two of the three doubles matches. Drew Hackney and Landon Bassett took the top match by the score of 6-1 before Leyton Byler and Caleb McIntyre won the No. 3 match 6-2.
Trine went on to win five of the singles matches to finish off the 6-1 victory. Hackney finished the day undefeated with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the top match. Bassett also finished the day undefeated by winning the No. 3 match 6-3, 6-2. Brodie Hershberger won his lone match of the day by taking the No. 4 contest 6-1, 6-3. Asher Monson (6-0, 6-1) and Emmett Wirth (6-0, 6-2) won the final singles matches in quick fashion to secure the victory.
The Thunder finish the day 4-1 overall. Member of the team are next scheduled to compete when they travel to the ITA Regionals which are set to take place in Indianapolis, Ind. Day one of the tournament is set for Friday, October 2.
