EXCELSIOR, Minn. – The Trine University men's hockey team made their 2024-25 season debut at 15
th in the latest USCHO.com Division III coaches poll following their opening weekend sweep of Fredonia State University.
The Thunder received votes totaling 28 points in the poll. Fellow Northern Collegiate Hockey Association member Aurora University came in just ahead of Trine with 60 points. Also representing the NCHA in the poll were Adrian College who sits in second and St. Norbert College who is fifth.
The team swept their hosts from Fredonia this past weekend to begin the season with a 2-0-0 record. On Friday, the team scored two goals in the third to win 2-0.
Brendan Finn scored the first with
Sam Antenucci sealing the victory in the final minute with an empty netter. On Saturday the Thunder needed extra time to secure the win, with a final score of 4-3 in overtime. Four different members of the team scored with
Sean Henry netting the winner in overtime.
Trine is set to open both the home and NCHA portions of their schedule this weekend. They will face Concordia University Wisconsin for a pair of conference games, beginning on Saturday, November 9 at 7 p.m.
