TIFFIN, Ohio – Members of the Trine University women's wrestling team took to the mats for the first time this season at the Tiffin University Women's Open.

Freshman Jenna Thompson led the way for the team while competing in the 131 weight class. She finished the day with a pair of victories, both coming by fall. She opened the day with a loss before recording her fist win in the opening round of the consolation bracket at the 3:59 mark of the match. She followed up with a second pin, this time at the 1:22 mark, before bowing out in a loss by decision.

Ashton Francis lost her opening match at 207, but followed up with a pin in her first consolation match, coming at the 2:11 mark. Hailey Budney also competed for the team but dropped both of her matches.

The Thunder are next scheduled to compete when they head to the Adrian Open on Sunday, November 10.
