TIFFIN, Ohio – A contingent of grapplers represented the Trine University women's wrestling team at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship Region 4 Tournament, with a pair of student athlete placing in their weight classes.
Madison Small led the team with a fifth-place finish at 138. After opening the day with a close loss, she battled her way back to the consolation semifinals with a 7-3 decision and a pinfall. She fell to the fifth-place match with a 8-0 loss before winning her final contest of the day with a lightning quick pinfall.
Also placing was Hailey Budney at 145. After dropping her opening match, Budney won the next two with a pinfall and 8-4 decision. Her final two matches were losses giving her a sixth-place finish.
Erin Scully was the other member of the team to pick up wins at the event. After winning the opening match of the day with a pin, Scully dropped to the consolation bracket with a quick fall. Scully recorded a second win with a pinfall of their own before bowing out of the tournament.
