Thunder Second at Ken Venturi

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's golf team finished second at the 2024 Ken Venturi Invitational on their home course. Jake Bilby led the way for the team as they posted a team total of 296.

The squad from Wayne State University took first posting a score of 290. Siena Heights University came in third with 304 strokes and Ohio Northern University finished fourth with 305.

Bilby led the team while finishing second overall with a score of 72, one over par. He finished off the front nine with three straight birdies to finish one under par in those nine holes. He went two over on the way in adding one more birdie.

Garrett James and Carter Schnipke both tied for ninth with three over par scores of 74. James was the lone member of the team to come up with an eagle during his round, coming on the par five seventh hole. Schnipke finished the back nine with three birdies on the final four holes to come in under par on those last holes.

Trevor Vietti rounded out the scorecard for the team, posting a five over par 76 strokes. He also turned in his best stretch in the final four holes of the back nine, posting three birdies.

The Thunder will finish the fall portion of the season when they travel the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree. The event is hosted by Adrian College at the Tecumseh Golf Club on Saturday, October 12. The shotgun start is scheduled for 1 p.m.
