HOLLAND, Mich. – The Trine University men's tennis team ran into a tough squad from Hope College and will return home with an 8-1 loss in their second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual of the season.
The Flying Dutch took all three of the doubles matches in the contest. Sophomore Cole Goodman and senior Drew Dixon came closest to a victory during the first part of the day with falling in the No. 2 match 8-3.
Freshman Andrew Spirrison would come up with the lone victory of the day for the team in the No. 2 singles match. There he won with scores of 4-6, 6-2, 10-8.
The Thunder fall to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in MIAA play following the loss. They will continue their season when they host Alma College on Monday, April 10. The game, which is a reschedule from earlier this week, is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
