Scots Overmatched by Men's Tennis

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team bounced back from their latest loss with a dominating performance against visiting Alma College, taking the dual match 9-0.

The closest of the doubles matches came in the No. 3 match, there freshmen Elijah Schilthuis and Nicholas Jen battled to an 8-6 victory over their opponents. Both of the other matches would go in favor of the Thunder by the score of 8-2. Freshman Andrew Spirrison and senior Aaron Streit took the No. 1 match while sophomore Cole Goodman and senior Drew Dixon came up with the No. 2 match.

One more match would go to the wire during the day, before Trine cruised to the victory. That close contest came in the No. 5 singles match where Dixon needed a super tiebreaker to come up with the win with scores of 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.

On the opposite end of the spectrum both Spirrison in the No. 2 match and sophomore Caleb Morris in No. 6 match both won in straight games, 6-0, 6-0. Streit was just a bit behind them with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 4 match. Goodman battled a bit in his first set but came away with an easy 6-3, 6-0 and Schilthuis won the No. 3 match 6-2, 6-2.
