Men's Tennis Sweeps Outnumbered Spartans

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University men's tennis team swept a visiting outnumbered Manchester University squad by the score of 9-0. 

In the two doubles matches that were contested the Thunder would tally a pair of wins. In the No. 1 match, freshman Cole Goodman (Eagle, Mich. / Grand Ledge) and junior Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) would win 8-4. In the No. 2 match junior Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and sophomore Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) picked up the win 8-3. The team of senior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and freshman Caleb Morris (Terre Haute, Ind. / Terre Haute South Vigo) took the No. 3 match by forfeit.

The team continued their dominance in the singles portion of the contest. Goodman won the No. 1 match 6-0, 6-0 to start off with Streit winning the No. 2 match 6-1, 6-1. In the No. 3 match Davis won 6-3, 6-2 and Dixon won 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 match. Smith won the No. 5 match 6-1, 6-3 in the last contested match of the day. Morris would win the No. 6 match by forfeit.

The team improves to 5-4 overall following the win. The team will continue their season when they travel to face Franklin College on Friday, March 18 for a 4 p.m. contest.
