Men's Tennis Muzzles Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Trine University men's tennis team turned in a strong performance from top to bottom to pick up the 8-1 victory over Adrian College.

The Thunder picked up their first two points with a pair of doubles victories. The first came in the No. 2 match where junior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and sophomore Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) came up with an 8-1 victory. Senior Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) and sophomore Eric Gaby (Syracuse, Ind. / Fairfield) turned in the other win with an 8-3 performance in the No. 3 match.

The team then followed up their success by sweeping the singles portion of the day. Everitt finished the day undefeated with a marathon victory in the No. 1 match, winning with scores of 7-6(8-6), 2-6, 10-7. Davis also finished undefeated with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the No. 3 match. Dixon was the final undefeated Thunder with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 5 match.

Sophomore Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) got his first win of the day in the No. 2 match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Freshman Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) came away with a 6-3, 7-5 win in the No. 4 match and sophomore Alex Mullet (Westfield, Ind. / Westfield) finished off the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 6 match.

Trine improves to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) following the victory. They will continue their season when they travel to face Kalamazoo College on Monday, April 12. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
