Men's Tennis Takes Tight Contest from Albion

ALBION, Mich. -- The Trine University men's tennis team needed every individual win they could get but came away with a 5-4 victory over Albion College in their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match.

The doubles portion of the contest saw the Thunder drop a pair of tight contests in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches before coming up with a win in the No. 3 match. The victory was earned by senior Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) and sophomore Eric Gaby (Syracuse, Ind. / Fairfield) by a score of 8-4.

Everitt would finish the contest undefeated starting the singles portion of the night off right for the team with a victory in the No. 1 match with scores of 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-0. Sophomore Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) took the No. 2 match easily with scores of 6-3, 6-1 while junior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) came up with the No. 3 match with scores of 6-2, 6-4.

Sophomore Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) came up with the final win of the day for the team taking the No. 5 match with scores of 6-7 (6-8), 7-5, 6-4.

The team improves to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in MIAA play following the win. They will take the courts again on Saturday, April 17 when they host Hope College. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
