Bats Power Two More Thunder Victories

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CLERMONT, Fla.-- Trine's bats provided a load of offensive firepower as the sixth-ranked Thunder defeated a pair of opponents Friday in the Dot Richardson Spring Games.

Both of Trine's wins came by the run rule, as the Thunder defeated Lebanon Valley 8-0 and Webster 17-3 in six innings. Carly Searles (Levering, Mich./Petoskey) set the school career-record for total bases and pulled within one triple of tying the all-time Division-III career mark. The senior surpassed older sister Andi Gasco (2010-13) for the total bases record and now has 381 in her collegiate career. Searles has 42 career triples, one shy of the D-III mark set by SUNY Cortland's Donnalynn Cross (2008-11). Trine improved to 9-1 on the season.

Trine 8, Lebanon Valley 0

Justine Robles (Long Beach, Calif./Lakewood) fired another shutout and the Thunder bats did the rest in the victory.

The junior pitcher allowed four hits without walking a batter. Robles fanned six batters. Through 32 innings pitched, Robles is sporting a nearly impeccable strikeout-to-walk ratio of 41-to-1. She has not allowed an earned run in her last three starts.

Searles wreaked in game one, notching two hits, a walk, an RBI and two steals. Amy Newell (Three Rivers, Mich./Three Rivers) and Kaylee Fox (Vermilion, Ohio/Edison) added RBIs.

Leah Hall (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) provided a big hit, clearing the bases with a three-run double in the third. Hall is now sixth on Trine's all-time list with 111 career RBIs. The senior is one of three active players in the top six in RBIs in team history, joining Searles (currently third with 123) and Kaitlyn Clark (fifth with 113).

Kendra Marshall (Leesburg, Ind./Warsaw) had a big game as well with three hits and a pair of RBIs, including a blast that would have gone for extra-bases had the game not ended with the eighth run scoring for the run-rule victory.

Lebanon Valley fell to 1-7 with the loss.

Tine 17, Webster 3

The Gorloks jumped on the Thunder for three runs in the first to take an early lead. Kaylyn DeCock provided the big hit with a three-run homer.

The Thunder took advantage of 10 Webster errors on their way to the huge offensive output. Gorlok pitchers surrendered just four earned runs in the game.

Searles did a little bit of everything at the plate once again, with four hits including two triples, four runs scored, four RBIs and a stolen base. Marshall knocked in three runs, while Jamie Schnarr (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering) also drove in a pair.

Alicia Eavey (Avon, Ind./Covenant Christian) added a perfect 3-for-3 effort at the plate.

Bree Fuller (Hubbardston, Mich./Fulton) picked up the win in five innings of work. Erica Robles (Long Beach, Calif./Lakewood) saw her first varsity action in the circle to record the last three outs.

Webster fell to 1-4 with the loss.

Trine concludes its performance in the Dot Richardson Spring Games tomorrow, as they face Johnson & Wales at 9 a.m. followed by Becker at 11 a.m.
