Thunder Close MIAA-Play with Win

ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine men's tennis team closed the regular-season with a 6-3 victory over MIAA-foe Alma Tuesday afternoon.

The Thunder fell behind 2-1 after doubles play, but were able to rally back with five singles wins to earn the victory. Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) and Joe Dunbar (Indianapolis, Ind./Guerin Catholic) combined for the no. 1 doubles win by a score of 8-4. Each player won their singles matches by 6-1, 6-0 scores as the duo combined to produce three points for Trine. Knust has now won seven-straight singles matches, while Dunbar picked up his second-consecutive win.

Joey Clark (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis), Nick Cassidy (Archbold, Ohio/Perrysburg) and Nick Ihrie (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) each added singles wins. Clark's ran his record to 11-7 with the win, while Cassidy pulled over .500 at 9-8 overall. Ihrie has won five-straight singles matches.

Trine improves to 10-8 overall and 2-4 in the MIAA with the win. Alma fell to 10-9 overall, 2-3 in conference matches.
