Men's Tennis Falls to Albion

ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine men's tennis team got three singles wins, but the Thunder were defeated by Albion 6-3 in MIAA-action Saturday afternoon at Trine University.

Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) continued his excelling play in no. 1 singles, taking another match in straight sets. The win was the fifth-consecutive singles victory for Knust. He is now 16-3 overall and 4-1 in conference matches. Freshman Tyler Davis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) picked up the win at no. 5 singles, rallying back after dropping the first set to win in a tiebreaker. The win was the second of the year for Davis. Nick Ihrie (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) won his fourth-straight decision, picking up the victory in straight sets in the no. 6 court. Ihrie is 10-3 overall. The Thunder fall to 8-8 overall and 1-4 in the MIAA.

The Britons were paced to the victory with a sweep of doubles play. Jonathan Gurnee, Ross Kynast and David Richter picked up singles victories for Albion. The Brits improve to 7-7 overall and 2-2 in conference matches.

Trine will play a non-conference match this Monday, Apr. 14 at Spring Arbor. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
