BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Trine University men's rugby team improved to 2-1 with a lopsided victory over their hosts from Ferris State University this past Saturday, September 19. The final score of the contest was 78-12 in favor of the Thunder.

Trine got off to a blistering start, amassing 11 tries with eight different scorers. Thomas Dickin led the way with a hat trick, two coming off interceptions. Freshman Jaxson Gerig was also crucial in the early game, adding a try of his own while also getting the energy going in the right direction.

After the building the commanding lead, the physical play from Ferris State slowed the contest in the middle section of the competition. It wasn't enough to change the outcome as the Thunder finished the game with the win.

The team will enjoy a bye weekend before heading to Milwaukee, Wis. to face the University of Minnesota in a neutral site game. That contest is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3.
