BRIGHTON, Mich. – Junior Kanye Tucker has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Football Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

This is the second time this season that the MIAA has recognized one of the Thunder, the first on the defensive side of the ball. It is the first time that Tucker has earned the award.

The Elkhart, Ind. native led the Thunder defense during a dominating victory against Bluffton University. He finished the game with team highs in tackles, tackles for a loss and sacks. His three sacks was tied for second most in a game for the program while his four tackles for a loss were tied for fourth.

Trine defeated the Beavers 59-7, improving to 2-1 for the season. They next turn their attention to the MIAA portion of their season, traveling to face Kalamazoo College on Saturday, September 26. That game is set to start at 6 p.m.
