ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's soccer team came up short of visiting North Park University by the score of 3-0.
The Vikings applied ample pressure from the start, outshooting the Thunder ten to one in the first half. They cashed in on a pair of those shots to take a 2-0 lead into intermission.
Trine had their best scoring chance of the game in the opening minutes of the second half. Diego Herrera got behind the defense and fired a shot toward the low right corner of the goal. The North Park keeper made a spectacular save to keep his shutout intact.
The Vikings added one more goal in the 57th minute to build the final score of 3-0.
Brandon Walker played the match in net for the Thunder and finished the game with three saves while allowing the three goals.
Trine falls to 2-2-1 overall after the loss. They will continue the season when they travel to face Manchester University on Tuesday, September 22. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
