FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Trine University's Debbie Hill has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week after an impressive performance at the 2026 MIAA Softball Tournament.
This is the senior's tenth MIAA Athlete of the Week award during her career. Along with Sydney Adolfson, this marks the third and fourth times that a member of the team has earned the weekly recognition this season.
The New Whiteland, Ind. native was an absolute force in the batters' box during the tournament. She led athletes from all teams with 11 RBIs while finishing tied with four homers. She was second with a 1. 385 slugging percentage during the week.
Along the way she set the NCAA Division III record for walks during her career, ending the weekend with 148. She also tied the Trine record for home runs, sitting at 62 for here career thus far.
The Thunder secured the MIAA Tournament Championship with a 7-5 victory against Calvin University on Friday, May 8. While Trine ended up with the league's automatic berth, both teams were ultimately selected for the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. Trine is set to host a regional beginning on Thursday, May 14.
