Thunder Repel Scots

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's lacrosse team picked up their third win of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) season by defeating visiting Alma College 22-6.

Eight members of the team finished the game with multiple points. Rocco Curatola led the way with six, including three goals and three assists. Mitchell Voglewede also had three goals and with a single assist he was second on the team with four points.

Riley Fischer, Will Gonia, Connor Ballantyne and Laden Kruse each had two goals, and all but Kruse finished with three points. Vin Pantano and Chris Molnar each had a goal and two assists. Caleb Edwards, Kramer Zastrow, Nick Fariello and JJ Boos each had one goal and Noah Ericson finished off the scoring with an assist.

Trine scored from start to finish, scoring three goals in the first six minutes of play and ultimately taking an 8-2 lead into the second quarter. They led 14-4 at the half and 19-5 at the end of the third period. A final goal gave them their 20-5 victory in the fourth.

Defensively Curatola and Mason Levin led the team with two caused turnovers each. The faceoff men led the way in groundballs with Alec Jankowski recording nine and Fariello finishing with six. J'Oshua Shaw was next with four groundballs and a caused turnover.

Jankowski led the team going 11-for-12 in faceoffs. Fariello was second going 8-for-9 and Michael Scott went 5-for-9.

Trine finishes the day 13-3 overall and 3-2 in MIAA play. The Thunder will return to action when they travel to face Albion College in the final game of the 2026 regular season. That game is scheduled to be played at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22.
