FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has named Drew Hackney as their men's tennis Athlete of the Week.
This is the first time in his career that the sophomore has earned the honor. It is also the first time this season for a member of the team.
Hackney, a Norton Shores, Mich. native, had a stellar week during the team's spring break trip to Florida. He went 4-1 in the top singles match, including a super-tiebreaker win against a Division II opponent. In doubles, he went 3-2 along with partner Emmett Wirth. Their losses were to a Division II pairing and in a tiebreaker loss on the final day of the trip.
The team went 3-2 during the stretch improving go 9-2 overall. Their next dual is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11 when they host Manchester University. That match is set to start at 4 p.m.
