Sydney Strolberg notched her first career hat trick to get the Trine University women's lacrosse team back into the win collumn on Saturday afternoon. Trine (5-2) scored an 8-5 win over the Spalding University Golden Eagles (4-5).
Kelsey Yanagihara made 12 saves in goal and
Evalyn Bellotti had a career outing with seven ground balls and six caused turnovers.
Sydney Weiss added a pair of goals in the winning effort.
Trine fell behind 2-1 in the second quarter when Strolberg erupted for a hat trick. Strolberg, who had four career goals entering the game, nearly doubled her career total in just seven minutes of game time. She scored a pair, then
Hayden Dahlinger scored before Stolberg completed her trifecta. Bellotti added a goal to make it a 5-0 run to open the third quarter.
The Golden Eagles swooped toward the lead with a pair of goals but Weiss denied the comeback with an unassisted goal and Dahlinger found
Isabel Fischer for an insurance goal to clinch the win.
Trine is back in action tomorrow with a game in Lexington, Kentucky at Transylvania University.
