CELINA, Ohio – The Trine University baseball team dropped a double header on Saturday afternoon to Wright State University – Lake Campus.
Cole Temple,
Luke Burford, and
Kai Jones led with two hits each on the day. Trine falls to 4-14 with the losses.
Trine fell behind 3-0 in game one despite a solid effort on the mound from
Will Gimbel.
Cole Temple broke up WSU-Lake's no-hit bid in the seventh with a single with two outs. The Lakers recorded the next out to take the win.
The Thunder offense found their stride in game two with seven hits but were defeated 5-4.
Spencer Rodriguez scored on an error in the second to tie the game at one and an RBI single from
Kai Jones gave the Thunder the lead in the third.
Trine began their rally from a 5-2 deficit in the fifth with an RBI single from
Brody Bond.
Kai Jones singled in the seventh to pull Trine within one but the Thunder were not able to complete the comeback.
Trine heads to Ohio Northern University on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. first pitch against the Polar Bears.
