ADA, Ohio – The Trine University baseball team dropped a midweek clash with Ohio Northern University 11-6 on Tuesday afternoon at Wander Field. The Thunder (4-15) out-hit the Polar Bears (12-6) 11-7 and were led by
Luke Burford with three.
Cole Temple added two hits and three RBIs on the day and
Dillon Carlquist drove in a pair of runs.
Carlquist drove in
Jaden Kostura in the second to get Trine on the board first, the run came on a single through the right side. ONU answered with two runs in the home half of the inning, the Thunder answered right back with a sac fly from
Brody Bond that scored Burford to tie the game at two.
The Polar Bears added the next eight runs to take a commanding lead. Temple would score or drive in the Thunder's final four runs. A sixth inning double to left field scored Bond and
Kai Jones, he scored on a double from Carlquist. In the eighth, he added his fifth homerun of the season.
Trine begins MIAA play on Friday when they travel to Kalamazoo College for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
